Leaves were obtained from the canopy using shotguns or pruners and stored in coolers. Measurements were taken on the fresh leaves within 8 hours of collection using the ASD FieldSpec3 with leaf clip assembly and ASD integrating sphere. Leaf material was returned to the lab, dried and ground and measured for morphological and biochemical traits including nitrogen, carbon, and fiber content, along with leaf mass per area (LMA) and isotopic nitrogen and carbon composition (d15N, d13C). Data was collected as part of NASA Forest Functional Types Project (NNX08AN31G).
